You may have heard about the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), that comes into effect May 25, 2018. The customer will have control of their own data and companies must follow strict rules on how they use and store customer data.
We store very little personal data on you, the customer. The 2 types of personal data we do hold are.
- If you buy online, then we have to have personal data from you in order to fulfil the contract of selling to you. It will compromise of name, address and email. We hold no card payment details.
- If you subscribe to our newsletter then we hold your email address. This is through you signing up to the newsletter online or you have given me your email in the shop.
I’m sure you will seeing more articles on this from other companies and getting emails talking about data and subscriptions at some point as the May 25th deadline approaches.
NEWSLETTERS AND CONSENT
As part of the GDPR rules, new CONSENT has to be gained from you for any email subscription/newsletters lists that you are on. It’s all about making sure you have control over your data and how it is used and making sure you have chance to ‘subscribe’ or ‘unsubscribe’ and that chance is always clear. Sometimes in the past, with some companies, this is not often clear and can be awkward to read or even find on how to unsubscribe.
So if you are signed up to our newsletter or other companies then you will all have to RE-SUBSCRIBE. It is a pain, but it only takes a couple of minutes and it is important to do. If you DON’T re subscribe then, you will no longer get emails. Now, for some companies this may be very handy, but if you like getting our emails of stock updates and what’s going on in the shop then we we would love you to ‘RE SUBSCRIBE’ when I send out the email next week.
