Night Class: Learn to knit socks!

Sock yarn has featured a lot in our #yarnuary campaign.  It really is a big thing at the moment with many of you knitting socks on double pointed needles and enjoying the new cool sock yarns that are currently available.

I didn’t even know it was a ‘thing’ until I started in September but boy do I know now! As a result I have introduced more sock yarn colours and ranges and it makes sense that we introduce classes on how to knit socks.  I will be one person wanting to learn so who wants to join me?

I have the lovely Lianne Gerrish in to take the 4 classes needed to learn.  If you don’t know Lianne then take a look at her facebook page and see her amazing work.  Her projects are shipped out to people far and wide!

For every Wednesday evening in February we will learn everything about knitting socks and by the end of the 4th session you will have your own pair of knitted socks completed! Each class is £20.    The first class will include a FREE pack of Zing double pointers and some sock yarn to start you off!  However, if you want to bring your own sock yarn or buy some at the shop for the course this is also fine.  As it’s in the evening refreshents will be Gin and Tonic or Tea/Coffee.  If you want to bring a bottle of wine to drink/share around then wonderful!

If you just need a bit of a ‘refresher’ on some skills then why not just sign up to any individual Wednesday.  You don’t have to do the whole course – you can dip in and out as you please.

Sock Course Details

  • Lesson 1 – February 1st: Anatomy of a sock, working in the round, casting on and knitting a cuff.

  • Lesson 2 – February 8th: Leg turning a heel

  • Lesson 3 – February 15th: Picking up gusset and knitting the foot

  • Lesson 4 – February 22nd: Shaping the toe, grafting the toe and blocking.

I’ll be learning too (can’t wait to learn a new skill) so why not join us both.  Book online or ring/email the shop to secure your place.

Sorry! I inadvertently replied to this instead of forwarding it to my daughter as I know she would be interested especially with a g&t in the mix!
