The Judges of the very first Long Melford Olde Christmas Window Competition gave us SILVER! Wahoo. We are very chuffed indeed. Nicki who runs our Saturday morning workshops had the idea for the Christmas Window ages ago before we even knew about the competition. Then, in November I saw the advert for the competition. I’m very much an intrinsically motivated person, however, I do love a competition now and again and as an ex teacher I know how, at times, competitions can be healthy and help to push standards and results for all. So I thought ‘Why not?’ It would be great fun and a nice way to support the event and the village.
Nicki and I spent a day when the shop was closed setting up the window. It took most of the day, but what fun we had decorating, making, gluing, taping and dancing to Christmas music. Nicki ultimately was doing more of the decorating, making, gluing and taping in order to make ‘Peggy’ look stunning and I was dancing.
The Saturday before the Long Melford Olde Christmas event the judges came around and on the Sunday of the event they gave us the SILVER award. The certificate now proudly sits in the window.
Our next display will be January and then Spring. Lots of ideas in mind.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to come into the shop and comment on our Window. It really means a lot. I’ve only been at this new job for 12 weeks now and your comments really help to tell me we’re on the right path.
Congratulations also to the Olive Tree Tea Room and Garden for getting Gold!
